Quaishawn Whitlock is an artist, educator, and business owner in Pittsburgh PA. Having held teaching teaching positions at various local institutions including the Andy Warhol Museum, Artist Image Resource, and The Ryan Arts Center. Quaishawn has programmed and directed many workshops/seminars/classes for elementary, middle, and high school youth - in addition to programming to engage adult and experienced learners.

I am a resident artist at Artists Image Resource as well as the 2022 Activist Print project in Collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum and Boom Concepts in Pittsburgh, PA. Recently, transitioning from working on the programming team at the City of Asylum Pittsburgh to Curatorial Assistant for the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the New York City, NY.

The main practice of my work lives within the realm of Printmaking; screen printing, relief, linocut, and relief. Printmaking for me serves as language for journey/discovery; as the practice is so rich with process that it lends itself perfectly to experimentation, but also even more so into the accessibility of the experience. Both in the sense of the of the personal opinion/ takeaway for the work but also in terms what is happening/happened to reach the outcome idealized on the gallery wall — As an interdisclipinary Artist, my work is about the discovery and/or identity, representation, and struggle of Blackness. Blackness meaning the physical, mental and emotional identity of the black body. Investigation past, present, and the trends of the future.

In addition my practice is fueled by flexibility of creativity and collaboration - establishing more work as a Curator, Producer, and Street Artist.
