QUAISHAWN WHITOCK
Quaishawn Whitlock is an artist, educator, and creative entrepreneur iPittsburgh PA.Having held education engagement positions at various local institutions including the Andy Warhol Museum, Artist Image Resource, and The Ryan Arts Center. Balancing a teaching teaching practice in partnership with Boom Concepts, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and various other institutions - Quaishawn has programmed and directed many workshops/seminars/classes for elementary, middle, and high school youth - in addition to programming to engage adult and experienced learners.
Balancing exhibition and curatorial projects often finding a home in the realm of Printmaking - to serve as a language and tool for research and discovery; as the practice is so rich with process that it lends itself perfectly to experimentation, but also even more so into a network of accessibility present in each experience. Using these frameworks to engage with installation, My work is navigation and investigation of past, present, and the trends of the future. Research on how these trends can be dissected, discussed, and dissolved in our communities and in turn opening the conversation to understand the role we each have as well as the authority that we each can actualize.
Quaishawn is also owner and director of a small business called 1st Layer llc - specializes in print, production, branding/logo design, and workshops.
